About Our School
Central Valley Christian School currently has over 900 students in
grades k – 12 and over 125 in the preschool. The school is parent run with
four Reformed doctrinal churches providing the 13 member school board. The
student body represents over 80 local church bodies. It is a school
designed to assist in the education of the children of Christian parents and
believes heavily in the concept of home, church, and school.
The board and staff are committed to our
mission statement of
Cultivating responsible Christian Adults
Valuing academic excellence
Connecting Biblical truth with everyday
living
Shaping Christ like character
We are enthusiastically devoted to Reformed Christian
education. The school realizes that to prepare a child only for the working
world would be a failure. Central Valley Christian School tries to prepare a
child to be ready for eternity by having an intimate relationship with Jesus
Christ and realizing that Christians are to be in the world but not of the
world. (Mark 16:15; John 15:19, 17:14-18; Romans 12:2).
Central Valley Christian School is a part of
CSI
(Christian Schools International) and is fully accredited by the
W.A.S.C. (Western Association of Schools and Colleges).
The school operates a full sports program and hosts many various extra
curricular opportunities.
History
The school had its beginning in 1944 when a group
of people dedicated to Christian education formed the Central Valley
Christian School Society and started Hanford Christian School. The
combination of widening boundaries and continued growth motivated the
Society to start a second elementary campus in Visalia in 1979. The school
started in the buildings of the First Christian Reformed Church of Visalia
and was able to stay in that facility for the next several years. Again
motivated by growth the Society purchased 25 acres of land from the city of
Visalia and started the new school with the addition of a high school in
1982. The first graduating class was in 1986. The Hanford and Central
Valley Christian campuses remained under the same school board and
superintendent until 1994 when by a mutual and friendly decision it was
decided to break away and become two separate schools.
