Editor's Note: The American Sign Language class that you see performing here consists of students at Central Valley Christian School under the leadership of Pat Rainbow. Here they are perfoming two christmas skits in ASL: The Christmas Story and How The Grinch Stole Christmas. There are some songs thrown in. So that your downloads would not be too great, each skit is broken down into several consecutive segments. Start with the first segment and continue in order. We are delighted that these students attend our school, and were willing to participate in this site with our advanced computing students. Also Visit our ASL Christmas Songs Page

HAVING TROUBLE VIEWING THE VIDEOS?Most computers should play these video clips fine, because our survey of machines that visit www.cvc.org show that modern machines are in the majority. We are, afterall, a multimedia site.. and tend to attract viewers with computers that can handle it. However, you may not have the required software for viewing these videos, or you may have a machine with limited memory. Do not fear! There are solutions. These video clips are in the WMV (windows media video) streaming format. We chose this format for its superior quality of video and sound accompanied by small file size and therefore short download time. However, if you do not have a recent copy of Windows Media Player, you may not be able to view our clips. For visiters with machines that can not view wmv files, we will be putting the ASL Christmas song videos on line with the mpeg format. However, the file sizes will be quite large (6-8 MB each!). In the meantime, you can upgrade your Windows Media Player by going to http://windowsupgrade.microsoft.com. If you upload and install Windows Media Player 7, it may or may not work on your machine. We have found that Windows Media Player 7 (WMP7) often crashes on some of our 200+ computers with Windows 95 and 98 operating systems (Windows ME machines work fine.)! The good news is that if WMP7 does not work well on your system, it is easy to uninstall. Better yet, if you install and then uninstall WMP7, the old version of Windows Media Player actually works better than before and keeps the new codecs, enabling you to still view our videos... so upgrading your Windows Media player (It is free!) is well worth the time. If you do have trouble with Windows Media Player 7, uninstall it from your control panel in add/remove programs.
Older machines and computers with limited memory sometimes have trouble with video clips. If this is the case with your machine. Download the clips to your hard drive. Then, close all programs except EXPLORE using Ctr-Alt-Delete and "End Task" buttons. Now you should be able to play the clips with no problems. Enjoy!
